Drainage problems are sneaky. Water pools in the wrong spots, soil erodes, and the yard just never quite dries out. A lot of homeowners in the Laurel Park area deal with exactly this - especially on properties with natural slope and heavy tree canopy. The fix doesn't have to be an eyesore.
For this property, we built a dry creek bed to move water away from the foundation and out to a better outlet. Natural river rock lines the channel, giving water a clear path to follow while keeping everything looking intentional. No buried pipe running through a muddy trench - just a clean, natural solution that fits the property.
We also tied in a butterfly garden using timber-framed raised beds. Each bed is built with pressure-treated lumber and planted with pollinator-friendly perennials - coneflowers, salvia, and more. It adds color and life to what was otherwise just a problem area. That's the kind of outcome we aim for: fix the issue and make the space worth looking at.
Drainage and erosion control doesn't have to mean ugly. When you plan it right from the start, you can solve the problem and end up with something that genuinely adds to your property. That's exactly what we did here - practical work with a finished look that holds up over time.
If water is sitting where it shouldn't on your property, it's worth getting eyes on it sooner rather than later. The longer drainage issues go unaddressed, the more damage they do - to soil, to plantings, and sometimes to foundations.
