A yard that floods after every rain isn't just an eyesore - it's a problem that gets worse the longer you wait. Saturated soil, standing water, and a soggy lawn are signs that something underground has failed. That's exactly what we were dealing with on this property in Etowah.
The original French drain had stopped doing its job. Blockage had built up inside the system, and water had nowhere to go. So we dug the whole thing out, cleared the line, and installed a new drain box to give the water a proper path to follow. No patching. No shortcuts. Just a clean fix that actually works.
Once the drainage was sorted, we brought in the mini excavator and got to work on the grading. You can see we used a laser level on-site - that's not just for show. Getting the grade right is what makes the drainage system perform the way it should. Water follows the path you give it, so precision matters here. Our grading and excavation work is built around getting those details right from the start.
After grading, we finished the yard with seed and straw. The straw holds moisture, protects the seed, and keeps the fresh soil from washing away before the grass has a chance to take hold. It's a simple step that makes a real difference in how the yard recovers.
Drainage problems like this are more common than most homeowners realize, especially in areas that see consistent rainfall. If your yard isn't draining the way it should, the issue usually isn't going away on its own. Getting the right system installed - and graded correctly - is what keeps it from coming back.
